Why solar, not diesel

Modern NZ council noise overlays push diesel generators out of residential-adjacent civil work, festivals near homes, and many dairy operations. Solar Trailer Co units run silently, on no fuel, and sit inside council noise limits where diesel cannot. Battery storage covers roughly 1.5–2 days of typical site load with zero solar input (actual runtime depends on your daily load and conditions). Read the 5-year TCO comparison.

  • Espresso & hospitality

Where they work

Five customer segments. Illustrative NZ deployment examples. Full use-case breakdown →

  • Dairy & beef farms

Illustrative: a Tier 1 with comms replacing a diesel backup could save on the order of NZ$4,000/yr in fuel — depends on runtime and fuel price. Lifestyle block: a Tier 1 covering shed lighting, pumps and hand tools through the day (runtime depends on load and sunlight).

  • Residential builds

Example scenarios: an architect's home build (T1 + tool kit); a two-stage subdivision powered before mains.

  • Roading & civil

Long-term T2/T3 hire. Example uses: bridge-piling power; multi-month cycleway lighting. Sits inside council noise limits where diesel cannot.

  • Festivals & events

Example uses: multi-trailer supply for a large festival; stage power; power for a city New Year's Eve event. Read the festival playbook →

  • Off-grid lifestyle

Bach, lifestyle block, remote cabin. Silent solar with roughly 1.5–2 days of zero-sun battery storage (actual runtime depends on load).

Compliance

Our solar systems are installed onto purpose-built trailers that are supplied engineered and road-legal — NZTA Class TB light trailers (GVM under 3,500 kg) with a current Warrant of Fitness (WoF) at the time of delivery. The solar, battery, inverter and 230 V electrical systems are installed by EWRB-registered electricians and independently inspected by a Licensed Electrical Inspector, with a Certificate of Compliance issued for every unit. All tiers tow on a standard Class 1 (car) licence, provided your combined vehicle-plus-trailer weight (GCM) stays within your licence limit (6,000 kg on a full Class 1) — check your tow vehicle against the trailer's weight before towing.
