Compliance & towing

Where you choose the trailer option, our solar systems are installed onto purpose-built trailers that are supplied engineered and road-legal — NZTA Class TB light trailers (GVM under 3,500 kg) with a current Warrant of Fitness (WoF) at the time of delivery. The solar, battery, inverter and 230 V electrical systems are installed by EWRB-registered electricians and independently inspected by a Licensed Electrical Inspector, with a Certificate of Compliance issued for every unit — trailer or skids. Trailer builds tow on a standard Class 1 (car) licence, provided your combined vehicle-plus-trailer weight (GCM) stays within your licence limit (6,000 kg on a full Class 1) — check your tow vehicle against the trailer's weight before towing. Skid-mounted builds are static, non-towable installs placed or craned into position, so trailer registration, WoF and towing requirements do not apply to them.

Frequently asked

When does Tier 3 ship?
Every unit is built to order. Indicative build time for Command is 55 days from order confirmation, subject to final build specification.
Why does the price vary?
The NZ$53,742 ex-GST figure is the starting point for a 4.8 m trailer build; skids start from NZ$42,042 ex-GST. Added solar, battery, inverter capacity and the optional cargo bay all move the number, so the configurator at /quote gives the exact figure for your specification.
What supply does Tier 3 provide?
Single-phase 230 V through a 16 A / 32 A switchboard. There is no three-phase supply on any of our units. Continuous output is limited by the installed inverter capacity — 6 kW as standard, expandable to 24 kW with up to four units. Tell us your draw profile and we'll size the inverter and switchboard to it.
How long can Tier 3 run with no sun?
Tier 3 ships with 20 kWh of battery storage, expandable to 50 kWh — actual runtime varies with load and battery size. For longer deployments, a hybrid LPG module may be offered for hire, or pair two Tier 3 units.
Do you do white-label and fleet supply?
Yes — fleet supply available for hire businesses, civil-defence buyers, and corporate sustainability programs. Email power@solartrailer.co.nz.
